These floating shelves add a unique design and become a focal point on any wall space. Our honeycomb shelves come in three sizes-
Small: 10 3/8" x 12 x 3 1/2"
Medium: 12 3/8" x 13 1/8" x 3 1/2"
Large: 14 3/8" x 16 5/8" x 3 1/2"
The Nested set is 1 of each size.
These shelves are made out of mostly pine. ***These pieces of wood have knots, dark graining, waynes edge and minor blemishes but we feel that’s what makes the piece unique and somewhat rustic looking. We love wood and we love making wood look beautiful. If we think a piece of wood is not good enough we don’t use it, but we feel these minor imperfections in the wood add character and beauty to the piece, especially when stained. ***
Each side of the hexagon is glued and nailed together with a Brad nailer. We fill our nail holes with a stain accepting wood filler. You have five stain colors to choose from; dark walnut, early American, golden chestnut, classic grey, and gunstock, which are pictured above. If you can’t decide on a color we recommend the Early American (as shown in photos). It’s a beautiful medium toned brown and it really brings out the grains and beauty of the wood. After staining we lightly sand and add a water based satin poly for a smooth finish. We drill a small 1/4” hole in the back of the shelf for hanging. We feel this is better than a saw tooth hanger as the shelf can then sit flat against the wall. Hanging nails are provided.
